Mexico
Overview
Mexico has a proud 500 year history of mineral exploration and mining and is among the world’s largest mineral producers. Best known for its silver production (over 10 billion ounces), Mexico also mines significant quantities of gold. Two mountain ranges, the Sierra Madre Occidental and Oriental, leave room for a large, elevated plateau in the middle of this excelling mining territory.
Mexico is a pro-mining and pro-foreign investment country. According to Mexican mining legislation, minerals are part of the national patrimony, meaning the exploration and production of minerals will take preference over any other land use opportunities. As a member of N.A.F.T.A., foreign investment has been embraced by many of the mining giants, including Newmont Mining Corporation and over 200 other publicly traded companies based in North America. In addition, mining and metallurgical activities remain a cornerstone of the Mexican job market.
El Arco
El Arco is located in the Central Plateau gold and silver belt, near the historic silver/lead/zinc district of Tejamen. El Arco demonstrates low sulphidation epithermal-style banded quartz veinlets similar to those found at the surface in the La Cienega District hosted in the historically unexplored Rhyolites. Surface samples have confirmed the presence of both high-grade gold and silver. Goldex is planning to fast track the property to phase one drill testing.
The El Arco project consists of one mineral exploration license which covers approximately 4.63 square kilometers. Goldex has the exclusive right to purchase a 100% ownership interest to the Property for $500,000 (USD) for the ten year duration of the agreement. The previous owner shall be entitled to receive the Net Smelter Royalty up to one percent.
The Arco II ground, situated adjacent to the Arco I property optioned in early 2007, was acquired on January 29th 2008. This increased the area Goldex has under exploration and development in Mexico from 463 to 3,381 hectares.
The Penoles La Cienega mine which in 2005 produced 1600 t/d at 7.58 g/Au, 112 g/t Ag and 3.66% Pb/Zn lies 100 km to the west.
